Christian Dior Handbags Fall Winter 2010 2011 Fashion Show

Door on the catwalk at Christian Dior Paris Fashion Week with its new Fall Winter 2010 2011, I must say that when you wear Dior and John Galliano on the catwalk collection has always done an incredible spectacle of fashion history, seduction, and of course this Once it is. Woman Dior for season Fall Winter 2010 2011 is very sexy and seductive, a woman who is somewhat a horse, a bit a lady ultra feminine, confident and determined, the girl power at high levels!

The new Dior collection also includes some beautiful bags and of course we immediately noticed! The piece of the collection is certainly the tip of Granville, it already house Dior bag that comes with a new look of suede leather in burgundy or black, a stock that has captured imaginations and will continue to dream about next season too.

Charming and cheeky is certainly the big hair across handbag, a bag that it takes great courage to wear, and perhaps will remain a bag parade, but that certainly will talk about, it’s nice and soft, it makes you want to winter.

We also have mini shoulder bags in satin with rhinestones and maxi clutch with flap wavy available in both suede leather that hammer.

Spring is just around the corner and it is now time to deal more closely scholarships which will become real must-have for next season. One of the most interesting exchanges of p / e 2010 is the New Lock Christian Dior handbag, John Galliano a bag which paid homage to Monsieur Dior, inventor of the “New Look”. New Lock, a grant from the forms simple and fairly traditional advertising is leading a very ambitious project, which sees the collaboration with the Teacher of the photographer Peter Lindbergh.

Did we mention briefly the New Lock when we presented the pictures she campaign by Christian Dior, and involves the French model and actress Nora Arnezeder Karlie Kloss. This last is the testimonial of the New Lock.

The new IT bag of the fashion house Dior, which has all the credentials to make shoes for Lady Dior handbag is cut quite simple: it’s a fairly small handbag from the measures and the rectangular shape, which is precisely the main retail closure, “lock” to be precise, the vintage look.

New Lock is leading a fairly ambitious project, which also sees the participation of Peter Lindbergh not only for the realization of the shots of the countryside, but also its participation in cooperation with Darius Khondji to see some short films that accompany the New Lock ‘actress Nora Arnezeder during his day.

New Lock, like any self-respecting IT bag is available in many variations, as stitching with the classic, the plot and then some versions cannage valuable as that in python skin.

Richard Galliano - Sentimentale

Richard Galliano – Sentimentale

$17.04

Sentimentale is accordionist Richard Galliano's debut as a leader for Resonance Records. This date marks his return to jazz after a three-album sojourn with Deutsche Grammophon recording the music of Bach, Piazzolla, and Vivaldi. His multi-national quintet here includes Israeli-born pianist and arranger Tamir Hendelman, American guitarist Anthony Wilson, Cuban bassist Carlitos Del Puerto, and Brazilian drummer Mauricio Zottarelli. The program is as diverse as the personnel. Things kick off on the spirited side with a galloping reading of Chick Corea's "Armando's Rumba," with Wilson and Galliano twinning the head as Hendelman lays down shiny chords and spirited montunos with a killer bass solo from Del Puerto before the accordionist launches into a combination of tango and jazz. Duke Ellington's "In a Sentimental Mood" opens with a near pastoral reverie before the melody is introduced by Galliano and Wilson. Hendelman's illustrative fills and comps are gorgeous without being flowery. The funky groove in Horace Silver's "The Jody Grind" is derived from Dee Dee Bridgewater's vocal version, despite Hendelman's finger popping pianism. Galliano crosses harmonic lines between both Zottarelli's drum break, spiky blues from Wilson, and soul-jazz swagger from Del Puerto. On John Coltrane's "Naima," Wilson adopts a near sitar-like sound while Galliano's crystalline, glass bead sound enters into the melody and opens it onto the accordion's higher register, offering a bright harmonic flourish in his solo. Brazilian music makes its appearance on Sentimentale as well. This take on Ivan Lins' evergreen "The Island" is equally based on the composer's earliest, Bahia-informed version rather than his post-bossa take from later years as well as singer Patti Austin's. Likewise "Verbos Do Amor," by Joao Donato and Abel Silva, finds Galliano's quintet engaging in inspired, multi-textured samba. There are two familiar originals here as well: "Ballade Pour Marion" is magical in this bal musette-cum-lyrical jazz setting as Hendelman's voicings twin with the accordionists', offering different timbral statements and underscoring its lush colors. Closer "Lili" is trimmed to a languid, tender duet between the accordionist and Wilson — both of whom display their enormous gifts for lyricism (which is why they are oft-chosen accompanists for singers). Sentimentale is not only classy in its choice of material, it's canny and expert in its arrangement, interplay, and articulation. Like the best of Galliano's recordings, it displays not only his iconic signature on the accordion, but the commanding presence, communicative inquisitiveness, and elegant creativity of his spirit. ~ Thom Jurek

Gods and Kings: The Rise and Fall of Alexander Mcqueen and John Galliano (Paperback)

$12.94

The New York Times bestselling author of Deluxe chronicles the making and unmaking of two of the greatest fashion designers of our time In the mid-1990s, John Galliano and Alexander McQueen exploded onto a fashion scene that was in an artistic and economic rut. Their daring visions shook the establishment out of its bourgeois, minimalist stupor with vibrant, sexy designs and theatrical runway shows. By the end of the decade, each had been hired to run one of coutures most storied houses, Galliano at Dior and McQueen at Givenchy. They were icons of a new generation of rock-star designers who headlined the transformation of luxury fashion from a small clutch of family-owned businesses into a global, multibillion-dollar corporate industry. But the pace was unsustainable. In 2010, McQueen took his own life. A year later, Galliano was fired in the wake of an alcohol-fueled, anti-Semitic diatribe. In her groundbreaking work Gods and Kings , acclaimed fashion journalist Dana Thomas tells the true story of two unforgettable artists. In so doing, she pulls back the curtain on the revolution that has remade high fashion over the last two decadesand the price it demanded from the very ones who saved it.

More than two decades ago, John Galliano and Alexander McQueen arrived on the fashions scene when the business was in an artistic and economic rut. Both wanted to revolutionize fashion in a way no one had in decades. They shook the establishment out of its bourgeois, minimalist stupor with daring, sexy designs. They turned out landmark collections in mesmerizing, theatrical shows that retailers and critics still gush about and designers continue to reference. Their approach to fashion was wildly differentGalliano began as an illustrator, McQueen as a Savile Row tailor. Galliano led the way with his sensual bias-cut gowns and his voluptuous hourglass tailoring, which he presented in romantic storybook-like settings. McQueen, though nearly ten years younger than Galliano, was a brilliant technician and a visionary artist who brought a new reality to fashion, as well as an otherworldly beauty. For his first official collection at the tender age of twenty-three, McQueen did what few in fashion ever achieve: he invented a new silhouette, the Bumster. They had similar backgrounds: sensitive, shy gay men raised in tough London neighborhoods, their love of fashion nurtured by their doting mothers. Both struggled to get their businesses off the ground, despite early critical success. But by 1997, each had landed a job as creative director for couture houses owned by French tycoon Bernard Arnault, chairman of LVMH. Gallianos and McQueens work for Dior and Givenchy and beyond not only influenced fashion; their distinct styles were also reflected across the media landscape. With their help, luxury fashion evolved from a clutch of small, family-owned businesses into a $280 billion-a-year global corporate industry. Executives pushed the designers to meet increasingly rapid deadlines. For both Galliano and McQueen, the pace was unsustainable. In 2010, McQueen took his own life three weeks before his womens' wear show. The same week that Galliano was fired, Forbes named Arnault the fourth richest man in the world. Two months later, Kate Middleton wore a McQueen wedding gown, instantly making the house the worlds most famous fashion brand, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art opened a wildly successful McQueen retrospective, cosponsored by the corporate owners of the McQueen brand. The corporations had won and the artists had lost. In her groundbreaking work Gods and Kings , acclaimed journalist Dana Thomas tells the true story of McQueen and Galliano. In so doing, she reveals the revolution in high fashion in the last two decadesand the price it demanded of the very ones who saved it.

Recording information: Notre Dame du Liban, Paris, France (09/01/2009-09/02/2009); Paris, Notre Dame du Liban (09/01/2009-09/02/2009); Notre Dame du Liban, Paris, France (09/01/2009/09/02/2009); Paris, Notre Dame du Liban (09/01/2009/09/02/2009). French accordionist and bandoneon player Richard Galliano has spent much of his career demonstrating that his instruments can be employed not only in the service of folk music, but also to play jazz. His long tenure on Dreyfus Records was spent in that endeavor, but with Deutsche Grammophon, the venerable classical label, he naturally takes a different tack, here adapting himself to the demands of Johann Sebastian Bach. The substitution of accordion for keyboard instruments, notably in the three-part Concerto for Harpsichord, Strings, and Continuo No. 5 in F Minor, BWV 1056 and Contrepoint 1 — L'Art de la Fugue en R Majeur, BWV 1080, is a natural, yet Galliano does not stop there. He also replaces the violin in the three-part Violin Concerto No. 1 in A Minor, BWV 1041 and the Concerto for Violin, Oboe, and Strings in D Minor, BWV 1060; the cello in the "Prlude" movement of the Suite for Cello Solo No. 1 in G, BWV 1007; and the flute in the "Allemande" section of the Partita for Solo Flute in A Minor, BWV 1013. These pieces written for strings and a reed require a fluidity of playing that Galliano succeeds in reproducing on his keys. And there are gains in his choice of instrument, notably in the slow "Largo" movement of the harpsichord concerto, since the accordion's notes have a longer decay than those for the harpsichord, giving greater resonance to the music. Galliano is ably accompanied by a chamber orchestra consisting of two violins (Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabdian and Sbastien Surel), viola (Jean-Marc Apap), cello (Raphal Pidoux), and bass (Stphane Logerot). But they only provide support, and often they drop out entirely as Galliano re-creates the majesty of Bach's music on his accordion, proving its worth as a formal instrument, just as he has previously as a jazz axe. ~ William Ruhlmann

Personnel: Richard Galliano (accordion); Andrea Tacchi (vocals); Toots Thielmans (harmonica); Michel Portal (saxophone); Frank Sitbon (piano); Bireli Lagrene (guitar); Geroge Mraz, Palle Danielsson, Pierre Michelot, Jean-Francois Jenny-Clark, Jean-Marc Jafet (bass); Al Foster, Joey Baron, Charles Bellonzi, Daniel Humair, Luiz-Augusto Cavani (drums); I Solisti Dell'Orchestra Della Toscana. Digitally remastered by Rene Ameline & Philippe Arnal (Studio Ferber, Paris, France). The accordion is often thought of in jazz as either a joke or a novelty, but there have been a limited number of talented practitioners including, in recent times, Richard Galliano. This best-of collection draws its material from a 16-year period, featuring Galliano on 15 selections, ten of which are his originals. The music ranges from straight-ahead and tangos to mood music and folkish songs. Guitarist Bireli Lagrene and Toots Thielemans on harmonica are among the most prominent sidemen, but Galliano's surprisingly versatile accordion is the main star. This set serves as an excellent introduction to Richard Galliano's music and sound. ~ Scott Yanow

Legendary accordionist Richard Galliano again forges new paths in classical music with this album of well-known Mozart pieces. The third album of classical repertoire from the legendary jazz accordionist, this follows his extremely successful albums of Bach and Vivaldi. Richard Galliano shows a clear empathy for the music of Mozart, largely borne from his origins playing classical music at the beginning of his career before turning his attentions to jazz. Here he enlists the help of a talented sextet of musicians to enable the listener to experience some of these best-loved works as they've never heard them before.

Personnel: Ron Carter (cello); Richard Galliano (accordion). Recording information: Fnac Montparnasse, Paris, France (07/23/1990). A series of duets with Ron Carter and French accordionist Richard Galliano. Not a common jazz instrument, the free-reed sound of the accordion on this recording is both subtle and lovely. Tempos range from ballads to medium, but tend to be on the slow side. Not breakthrough jazz, these duets (recorded live, in concert) are refreshing and what all good music should be, just good listening. ~ Michael Erlewine

Richard Galliano Quartet: Richard Galliano (accordion); George Mraz (bass guitar); Clarence Penn (drums); Gary Burton (unknown instrument). Richard Galliano long ago staked his claim as the heir apparent to the late Astor Piazzolla, the undisputed icon of tango music. But the French Galliano has never been an imitator and has always sought to push the music beyond what the Argentinean Piazzolla might have considered. As an accordionist, Galliano has not only absorbed the essence of Piazzolla but expanded the possible permutations of the instrument within the tango setting, and he's done that by placing it within a jazz context. Galliano doesn't so much adhere to a recognizable jazz framework as cherish the art of improvisation endemic to jazz, and on If You Love Me he's achieved the perfect synthesis by teaming with the renowned vibraphonist Gary Burton, with George Mraz on bass, and with Clarence Penn on drums. It might seem, in theory, that the accordion and the vibes would be an oil-and-water mix, but these two virtuosi make it work — there's a natural flow from one sound to the other and a shared sense of purpose that turns each track into a serene thing of beauty. Much of the program derives from the master's catalog — five of the ten songs are Piazzolla compositions. But Galliano and Burton also take on J.S. Bach (Sinfonia 11 in G-Moll, BWV 797), Edith Piaf (the title track, listed in French as "L'Hymne l'Amour"), and Bill Evans (the classic "Waltz for Debby") and integrate them so seamlessly that they are easily of a piece with the Piazzolla tunes. The theme from the film Il Postino, which closes out the set, is melancholy and minimal, hinting at yet another direction this unlikely pair might go should they decide on a sequel. ~ Jeff Tamarkin

Few fashion designers in recent years have come close to the sensational success of British designer John Galliano. Through his work as head designer for Givenchy, Christian Dior, and Maison Margiela, as well as for his own label, Galliano has made a name for himself as a creative, dynamic, forward-looking force in high fashion. His successes, however, have at times been darkened by controversy: in 2011, he was suspended from Dior for making anti-Semitic comments during a drunken tirade, a suspension that led to an extended retreat from the public eye. Recently, however, Galliano has begun to stage a comeback?and the early signs suggest that it will be a triumph. This stunning visual retrospective showcases the full extent of his captivating contributions to contemporary fashion, from his earliest days at Central Saint Martins through his groundbreaking first collection and on to his most recent works. It presents an undeniable portrait of Galliano as a true genius of fashion?flawed, but nonetheless endlessly creative, relentlessly pushing fashion forward.

A charming and insightful memoir about coming of age as a fashion journalist in 1980s Paris, by formerVogue and Harper?s Bazaar editor Kate Betts, the author of Everyday Icon: Michelle Obama and the Power of Style? You can always come back,? my mother said. Just go. As a young woman, Kate Betts nursed a dream of striking out on her own in a faraway place and becoming a glamorous foreign correspondent. After college?and not without trepidation?she took off for Paris, renting a room in the apartment of a young BCBG (bon chic, bon genre) family and throwing herself into the local culture. She was determined to master French slang, style, and savoir faire, and to find a job that would give her a reason to stay. After a series of dues-paying jobs that seemed only to reinforce her outsider status, Kate?s hard work and willingness to take on any assignment paid off: Her writing and intrepid forays intola France Profonde?true France?caught the eye of John Fairchild, the mercurial fashion arbiter and publisher ofWomen?s Wear Daily, the industry?s bible. Kate?s earliest assignments?investigating the mineral water preferred by high society, chasing after a costumed band of wild boar hunters through the forests of Brittany?were a rough apprenticeship, but she was rewarded for her efforts and was initiated into the elite ranks of Mr. Fairchild?s trusted few who sat beside him in the front row and at private previews in the ateliers of the gods of French fashion. From a woozy yet mesmerizing Yves Saint Laurent and the mischievous and commanding Karl Lagerfeld to the riotous, brilliant young guns who were rewriting all the rules?Martin Margiela, Helmut Lang, John Galliano?Betts gives us a view of what it was like to be an American girl, learning about herself, falling in love, and finding her tribe. Kate Betts?s captivating memoir brings to life the enchantment of France?from the nightclubs of 1

Adapter: Richard Galliano. Audio Mixer: Grard De Haro. Liner Note Author: Vincent Bessires. Recording information: Studio La Buissonne, France (01/03/2011-01/09/2011). Photographers: Francis Vernhet; Alix Laveau. Having previously tackled the works of everyone from Bach to Billie Holiday, Frenchman Richard Galliano further showcases the versatility which has helped him to become the world’s premier accordionist with this beautifully crafted tribute album to the legendary film composer Nino Rota. Recorded to celebrate the centenary of the late Italian’s birth in 1911, its 20 tracks may lack the sweeping cinematics of the originals, but accompanied by a dream team quintet of trumpeter Dave Douglas, reedsman John Surman, bassist Boris Kozlov, and drummer Clarence Penn, Galliano treats them to an equally stylish arrangement that’s bravely improvisational but never less than respectful. Other than the mournful trombone solo of opener The Godfather Waltz and an exquisite double bass-led reworking of The Godfather’s Love Theme, both from Francis Ford Coppola’s 1972 masterpiece, and the self-penned vaudeville toe-tapping finale Nino, the album focuses entirely on his work with Federico Fellini. And it’s when Galliano allows himself to really let loose that the album best brings these iconic themes, many of which are more than 50 years old, most vividly to life, whether it’s the skittering musette-folk interpretation of Amarcord, the eerie ambience which opens the seductive lounge pop of Giulietta Degli Spiriti (Rosa Avrata), or the tense, circus themed take on La Strada. A testament to the talents of both its source of inspiration and one of the many musicians who he inspired, Nino Rota is a clever and affectionate homage which makes the transition from classical to jazz appear effortless. ~ Jon O’Brien
