Greg Norman
What ever happen to The Great White Shark ( Greg Norman )???

Along with all the things stated above me, i believe the main reason that he isn’t playing much at all anymore is that he has always had a bad back, and that now that he is in his 50s it has gotten to the point to where he can’t play competitively anymore.

Going into the final round of the 1996 Masters, Greg Norman led by six strokes. Having missed chance after chance throughout his career, this finally seemed to be year that the ‘Great White Shark’ would win the green jacket. But playing alongside him in the final pairing of the final day was the one man who always seemed to get the better of the Australian when it really mattered. What followed was one of the most excruciating collapses in sporting history. Faldo/Norman provides a blow-by-blow account of the riveting final round of the 1996 Masters over 18 chapters, weaving in the story of the entire tournament, the state of golf at the time, and the history of both players’ careers and rivalry. For a decade Norman and Faldo, in their different ways, dominated the game, and their epic meeting at Augusta would prove to be the end of a golfing era.

Norman Johnson – If Time Stood Still

$14.32

Personnel: Norman Johnson (guitar); Chris Herbert (saxophone); Josh Bruneau (trumpet); Steve Davis (trombone); Ken Fischer (piano); Arti Dixson, Bob Forte (drums); Eric Galm, Greg Allan, Martin Obeng (percussion). Recording information: Manor Recording, Middletown, CT. Photographer: Woody Ford. Arranger: Norman Johnson. In a bio that Pacific Coast Jazz sent out to the media with guitarist Norman Johnson's If Time Stood Still, the song "As It Is" (one of 11 tracks) is described as "an interpretation of smooth jazz as if done by Wes Montgomery" — which is an interesting choice of words, because one could argue that Montgomery, for better or for worse, invented smooth jazz guitar playing with the pop-saturated albums he recorded during the last few years of his life. Those 1967 and 1968 albums were a big departure from the straight-ahead hard bop and post-bop that Montgomery had been known for, and they had a major impact on George Benson, Lee Ritenour, Earl Klugh, and many other guitarists who played smooth jazz in the '70s and '80s. Clearly, none of that history is lost on Johnson, whose fondness for Montgomery — as well as for Benson, Ritenour, Klugh, and Pat Metheny — comes through on this 2010 release, which falls into the smooth jazz/crossover jazz category but isn't the sort of album that goes out of its way to be as senseless and mind-numbing as possible. This is mellow, laid-back easy listening — If Time Stood Still doesn't pretend to be hard bop, post-bop or fusion — but it is mellow, laid-back easy listening that has a brain. It's no secret that a lot of truly bad elevator music has come out of smooth jazz over the years; If Time Stood Still, however, isn't elevator music. Johnson's material may not be terribly challenging, but at least originals like "Unforgiven," "Midnight Sun" (not to be confused with the Lionel Hampton standard), "It's Time to Fly," and the Brazilian-flavored "Starting Tomorrow" have a brain. So does Johnson's interpretation of Pat Metheny's "Always and Forever," which is the only thing on this 49-minte CD that he didn't write. Sure, If Time Stood Still could have been more adventurous — Johnson no doubt has it in him to record a killer soul-jazz album — but this generally pleasant, if derivative, effort does have more substance than much of the smooth jazz that came out in 2010. ~ Alex Henderson

As Moore writes, ‘My only contribution to his downfall was to survive it.’

Greg Chappell was the outstanding Australian batsman of his generation. Though he had an appetite for big scores, it was his calm brow and courtly manner that bowlers found just as disheartening. When he followed his brother Ian into the Australian captaincy, his feat of scoring centuries in each innings of his captaincy debut has been unequalled. After retiring he went into coaching, spending some time with South Australia and working as a consultant at Pakistan’s National Cricket Academy. In 2005 he was appointed coach of the Indian national cricket team on a two year term – a stint that included a stormy public falling out with the captain, Sourav Ganguly. He has been Head Coach of Cricket Australia’s Centre of Excellence in Brisbane and in 2010 Greg Chappell was made Cricket Australia’s first full-time selector and National Talent Manager – a position of unequalled power. In this book Greg Chappell will reflect upon how things have changed since he grew up playing cricket in his backyard with his brothers Ian and Trevor; how Australia’s fortunes have see-sawed over the years; the great teams and the great players; the scandals and the opportunities. He has been a cricketer, captain, commentator and selector – he has seen it all.

Norman Expansion

Norman Expansion

$54.95

In the eleventh and twelfth centuries the Normans had a formative influence on the development of states and societies in the British Isles, southern Italy and the Levant. Their achievements still resonate powerfully today, and represent a vital field of historical study. But how far did colonial elites define themselves as Norman, and to what extent were they categorized as such by others? What were the defining attributes of the supremacies achieved by the Normans, and by other incomers associated with them, and how decisive and diverse was the impact of their influence on local power-structures and native societies? How readily did they reach accommodations with those societies, and how might their own identities be renegotiated within the context of cross-cultural encounters? And, in terms of the progress and practices of state-formation, what was the balance between ‘old’ and ‘new’? These are some of the key questions addressed in this collection of essays, which also treats the Normans as a genuinely European phenomenon. Norman activity in the British Isles and in the Mediterranean lands receives equal coverage; and the topics explored include identities and identification, marriage policies, acculturation, the pre-existing landscapes of power and how far they were transformed, castle-building strategies, the nature of frontiers, urban government, and law and legislation. This volume therefore serves both to illustrate and to open up for fresh debate many of the salient themes concerning the Norman experience of diaspora and settlement. At the same time, it seeks to underscore how the dynamics, character and consequences of Norman expansion – and the connections, continuities and contrasts – can better be appreciated by taking the wider Norman world, or worlds, as the focus for collective study.

The creator of Gor delivers a wide-ranging story collection, all previously unpublished, with a handful of directly Gor-related pieces and several more stories that involve Gor-like female slavery and submission. Many of the stories are philosophical monologues which play with existential and phenomenal ideas by discussing their philosophical underpinnings and their relation to the real world as observed with a philosophical mind-set. They are often without dialogue or even characters, merely thoughts, descriptions and speculations. Some could almost be lectures given narrative form. Some stories are SF, some are horror, some have mainstream settings. Among the characters in the various stories are a couple of talking frogs, a couple of independently-thinking computers, a fair number of philosophers and a number of clinical psychologists or psychiatrists, often analyzing or counseling computers or intelligent alien lifeforms.

Personnel: Greg Brown (vocals, guitar); Gary Worden (percussion). Recording information: JR's Warehouse, Traverse City MI (06/1994). Brown has long been hailed as the folk poet laureate of the Midwest, and this live disc, recorded at a high-energy solo gig in Traverse City, MI, is proof. He runs through tunes that examine the hard facts of life with humor, passion and a fair amount of poetic skill. His gravelly, expressive voice and rhythmic no-nonsense guitar style serve him well on tunes that manage to stay on the right side of the sentimental line while still evoking a gut response to Brown's nostalgic recollections of his pastoral childhood, as on "Canned Goods."

Personnel: Greg Brown (vocals, guitar); David Williams (guitar, banjo, mandolin); Al Murphy (fiddle); Dave Moore (harmonica); John Welstead, Mike Watts (drums). Audio Mixer: John Welstead. Liner Note Author: Greg Brown. Photographers: Jerome Goedkin; Steven Henke. Though he eventually became a master of dark, bluesy songwriting that would earn him such titles as "the Midwestern Leonard Cohen," Greg Brown started out in a much folkier mode. IOWA WALTZ is something of a concept album centered on the rural Iowa landscape that was his breeding ground. The sarcasm and grittiness of his later albums is absent here; Brown sticks to more traditional folk forms and acoustic frameworks to tell his tales of a country life that was already close to extinction at the time of this recording. Brown displays the influence of Mississippi John Hurt in his casual folk-blues fingerpicking and easy, friendly singing style, Woody Guthrie in his painstakingly detailed accounts of farm folks' lives, and Jimmie Rodgers in his jazz/blues-tinged take on country–the latter most obviously in "The Train Carrying Jimmie Rodgers Home." Dave Moore's bluesy harmonica and Al Murphy's country fiddling add spice, but it's Brown's sheer amiability and charismatic vocal presence that carry things along. The sound quality here is less than stellar, but that just adds to IOWA WALTZ's already anachronistic ambience.

GREG HOWLETT - HEIRLOOM

GREG HOWLETT – HEIRLOOM

$12.29

History I have been playing the piano since the age of 8 and have been heavily involved in church music since that time. However, my journey as a professional musician has been unorthodox. After college, I actually started my professional career as a software engineer and then later started two internet retail companies. It was not until I was 30 that doors started opening for me to take a more active role in professional music. I currently travel doing concerts and public speaking, write and produce music, and help other pianists through my blog, educational courses, and other resources. Timeline 2003 – Recorded Timeless Reflections, a piano-only project in my living room. 2006 – Recorded Reflections on a Journey, a piano/orchestra project with Steve Mauldin/Nashville String Machine. 2008 – Recorded Inspirational Improvisation, a six hour DVD course for church pianists. 2009 – Recorded Portraits of Hope, a piano/orchestra project with Steve Mauldin/Nashville String Machine. 2010 – Recorded 11 DVD courses (25 hours of instruction) for church pianists. 2010 – Recorded Quiet Place, a piano-only project. 2010 – Recorded Seasonal Spice, a Christmas project featuring me with other solo musicians. 2010 – Recorded Live in Charleston, a live concert video recording featuring ne with special musical guests. 2012 – Recorded Looking Up, a live concert CD/DVD featuring me with an orchestra, band and choir at Gwinnett Performing Arts Center in Atlanta. 2014 – Recorded Heirloom, a piano-only project for children. Public Work I do a limited number of concerts each year as well as various speaking events from church workshops to business speeches. You can see my schedule here. Live in Charleston and Looking Up are currently airing nationally and even world-wide across many networks. Check local listings for times. With extensive studio experience under my belt, I am an active producer as well. Personal I live in Monroe, Georgia with my wife Marla and four children (David, Kelsey, Katelyn, and Zachary). They are all involved in music and often play in my concerts. Kelsey plays violin on a few songs on Live in Charleston. In addition to my music career, I am a serial entrepreneur and have founded several successful internet retail companies. I sold my largest (Vitabase) in 2013. Music comes in third in my life after God and family. Without God's blessing, we have no chance of success of any kind. God's greatest blessing to me was my personal salvation at the age of 12. Our family is active at Grace Baptist Church in Dacula, Georgia. Music Philosophy Music is a powerful tool to help people in their walk with God and our music should be glorifying to God, passionate, and skillfully done. The picture of music in the Psalms is a good roadmap to follow. I write about music often on my blog.

Greg Laswell - Landline

Greg Laswell – Landline

$10

Audio Mixer: Greg Collins . Landline, Greg Laswell's 2012 follow-up to the celebrated Take a Bow, may sound less tortured than its predecessor but there's plenty of pathos to go around. Recorded in a small church-turned-house that belongs to his in-laws, Laswell couches his songwriting in what he perceives to be adventurous production. He listened to many hip-hop records before he cut Landline, and the sound of its drums, loops, and synthetic percussion obviously enchanted him. But this is nothing like a hip-hop record. The album's first single is its opening cut, "Come Back Down," a duet with Sarah Bareilles (loudly trumpeted by Vanguard Records). Its crunchy tom-toms, repetitive piano riff, and Laswell's monotone vocals introduce it. Bareilles complements and elevates them by injecting emotion with her friendly style. The most compelling thing about the track is its lyric content, which may disguise itself as an admonition, but is instead a thinly veiled indictment of a subject who's hurt the protagonist. It comes to a big, nearly cinematic climax. There are three other collaborations with female vocalists, including "Back to You" (Elizabeth Ziman of Elizabeth and the Catapult), the jaunty "Dragging You Around" (Sia), and the closing title track with his wife, singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson. It's the last of these, a ballad, which works best — though all of them work nicely. It's relatively simple; her voice with its plaintive appeal is a fine contrast to Laswell's angsty one. Tracks like "Nicely Played," with its insistent percussive layers, and "I Might Drop By," with its waltz tempo and blurred wash of instruments — save for a piano which is crystalline — have appealing hooks. Most of these songs have what it takes to get attention from radio programmers and online tune purveyors. Laswell's growing number of fans will be drawn to his "new" sounds, his studied hooks, and emotionalism; taken as a whole it feels like an album whose songs feel like they were written for poignant moments in film soundtracks. ~ Thom Jurek

This is a classic California Cab – rich, smooth, and tasty! Greg Norman Limestone Coast Shiraz Fine wine is one of Greg Norman’s great passions, and Australian wine in particular. This passion and curiosity led him to launch Greg Norman Estates, a collection of wines from his native Australia. From the beginning, I have been committed to the promise that every bottle of my wine delivers exceptional quality and value. Ernie Els Big Easy Red Blend Ernie Els is a true connoisseur of South Africa’s finest wines, and with a dedication to excellence, on and off the course, Els founded Ernie Els Winery in 1999, crushing its first vintage in 2000. His Stellenbosch winery receives acclaim and accolades every vintage for the range of quality wines produced. Sleeve of three Wine.com logo golf balls Printed insert that describes the featured wines Due to the popularity of this gift, wines or vintages sometimes sell out. Greg Norman Estates 2013 Limestone Coast Shiraz – Syrah/Shiraz Red Wine

$15.99

Red Wine by Greg Norman Estates from Australia. Greg Norman Estates Shiraz is an attractive dark crimson red color in the glass. On the nose, rich chocolate and coconut mocha notes from the oak maturation underpin distinctive black cherry, mulberry and blackberry jam aromas. The medium bodied wine is soft and elegantly structured showing a spectrum of rich dark fruits including cherry, mulberry, blackberry, and boysenberry flavors on the palate. These flavors meld with fine cedar and chocolaty oak adding persistence on the long finish.
